I’m not proclaiming Gringrich to be some kind of humble washington outsider (because he’s quite the opposite), but a $1.3 million house is not that expensive, in the broader scope of DC real estate. I can find U St condos that cost more than that house.

If Newt Gingrich really is a Washington outsider — as he claims in nearly every stump speech — it’s news to McLean, Va., a tony D.C. suburb inside the Capital Beltway where Gingrich owns this $1.3 million home. 

“I don’t really understand what he’s getting at when he’s saying that,” McLean resident Mary Amons, a cast member of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of D.C.,” said of Gingrich’s proclamations. “McLean is really like a little subset of Capitol Hill.”
